Mayor Maria Dolores A. Baya was one of the participants during the “Asian Local Governments for Organic Agriculture” or ALGOA Summit last August 31-September 2, 2017 at Chungbuk Organic Agriculture Research Institute in Goesan County, Chungbuk Province of South Korea.

The “Asian Local Governments for Organic Agriculture” or ALGOA is an alliance of both local governments and IFOAM Asia members and partners in Asia.

Its full purpose is to facilitate full adoption of organic agriculture in Asia. ALGOA works to foster dialogue and cooperation among Asia local governments for the development of organic agriculture and its related industries in Asia.

Mayor Baya, together with ALGOA President Na Yong Chan and IFOAM Asia President Zhou Zeijang signed a Memorandum of Commitment to further the goals and activities of ALGOA and to promote the development of organic agriculture and related industries in Asia.

She also pledged to increase the profile of ALGOA at local and regional levels and to participate actively in assisting the development of the activities of ALGOA, towards realizing the “full adoption of Organic Practices in Asia.”

Currently, ALGOA has 55 members in 16 countries in Asia.
